Spotlight on a sleeping giant – Ivalua

You could be forgiven for overlooking Ivalua in any P2P selection exercise. While Coupa, Ariba, Zycus and Tradeshift might have featured, Ivalua may not have bee an obvious short lister. It’s excusable – in terms of market size they’re small but in terms of reputation that are shining star – to the extent that Forrester have grouped amongst the eProcurement leaders in their eProcurement Platform Wave analysis.

And Forrester are not short on praise. They describe Ivalua as “one of the smartest, most flexible, and easy-to-use suites.”

Forrester points to the fact that Ivalua’s revenue is predominantly derived from the United States despite its European heritage and credits the Ivalua product set for its  for their modular architecture and commercial model that enables customers to start with eProcurement and expand over time toward a full ePurchasing suite.

Forrester comments that :”It has been very successful with companies that have unusual needs by agreeing to develop custom solutions and then supporting them within the standard product.”

What is most impressive to mind mind however is the recognition of Ivalua’s leadership in the application of AI and it flexibility in adapting to the requirements of special industry players. “Ivalua leads the field in infusing AI-driven aids and alerts to users throughout its suite” claim Forrester. “It has now added visionary product management to the customer-driven enhancement on which it previously relied.

“The flexible platform and multi-instance architecture well suit federated global customers that need content, UI, and/or process variances by division and those that have exceptional industry or regional needs. This flexibility can, however, be dangerous in the wrong hands, allowing companies to replicate existing ways of working instead of really transforming and create customizations that accelerate implementation but may slow adoption of subsequent platform enhancements.”
